In 1977, a chance meeting between a young American woman and an Eastern entrepreneur living in London sparked more than a love story- it was the beginning of Bila. The pair started a small clothing label, and then after gaining a loyal following in Europe they brought their vision to San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury. Surrounded by the city’s artistic energy and free spirit, Bila continued to grow and define the aesthetic that would become its signature.

With a new generation leading the way from Los Angeles, the contemporary label BILA77 was launched to capture the bright, vibrant energy of the Golden State. Renowned for unique prints, artisanal embroideries, and effortless silhouettes, the line combines its storied heritage with a fresh, contemporary spirit. Our purpose is to create pieces that are beautiful, thoughtful, and timeless.

Sustainability is at the heart of BILA77. For every order shipped, we plant a tree through our partnership with One Tree Planet, a nonprofit restoring forests, supporting biodiversity, and benefiting communities worldwide. As members of the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), we support responsible cotton sourcing and improved farming practices. Our designs also incorporate lower-impact materials, such as Livaeco™ Viscose made from FSC®-certified pulp produced under strict EU environmental standards.
